Descrición
In this course you will learn how to write a scientific document in LaTeX from scratch, through practical examples that allow you to learn from the most basic fundamentals to the advanced options of this language. LaTeX is a text composition system, oriented towards the creation of written documents with high typographic quality. Due to its characteristics and possibilities, it is used especially intensively in the writing of scientific articles and books that include, among other elements, mathematical expressions.
Competencias a desenvolver
- Knowledge of the basic elements for editing mathematical texts.
- Basic use of LaTeX for editing mathematical texts: preparation of tables, handling of figures, formulas and equations...
- Use of LaTeX in the elaboration of scientific documents.
- Use of LaTeX in the elaboration of scientific presentations.
Metodoloxía
In each module the main procedures for the elaboration of scientific documents (articles, theses, presentations,...) using LaTeX will be described. Students will be provided with theoretical notes based on examples and case studies. In addition, live sessions will be held through the videoconference platform (Zoom), where students will be able to follow the explanations and indications given by the teaching staff. During each live session, practical exercises will be proposed for the participants to carry out. At the end of the course, there will be a final test to evaluate the contents.
There will be 4 live sessions through the Zoom platform and they will be distributed as follows:
- 1st session: Tuesday 1 October
- 2nd session: Thursday 3 October
- 3rd session: Tuesday 8 October
- 4th session: Thursday 10 October
Both the e-learning and videoconference platforms measure the connection time of each participant, a criterion that will be taken into account for the final evaluation:
- Participation in the live sessions and connection time (minimum 10 hours) - 10%.
- Assignments completed during the live sessions - 70%.
- Final test (online) - 20%.
