As every year, the CIXUG is committed to continuous training and learning as a way to improve and be more efficient at work, and therefore, together with the three universities of the Galician University System (SUG), is opening the registration period for the different courses offered to university personnel, both teaching and research personnel (PDI) and administration and services personnel (PAS), in this first semester of the current year.
The main line of training is the work with open-source software tools, for which the CIXUG Consortium has the support of the Axencia para a modernización tecnolóxica de Galicia (AMTEGA), with which it signs a collaboration agreement every year to promote this training.
In response to the requirements of the three universities, CIXUG offers a wide range of training courses covering various learning areas, which it makes available to its personnel free of charge. This year there has been a considerable increase in training, with new courses to provide the universities with new ways of learning and development.
The courses offered for this first semester are the following:
- 10/03/2022 LPIC-1 v5.0: Linux Administrator (101 and 102) - Linux OS Administration: taught by the PUE and aimed at ICT personnel who wish to start their career in Linux system administration.
- 18/04/2022 Creation of infographics and vectorial designs: given by Óscar Fernández Carballo and aimed at PAS and PDI personnel with a vocation for vectorial design and infographics features provided by the Inkscape tool.
- 18/04/2022 Creation and treatment of images and photographs with GIMP: exclusive edition for the University of A Coruña.
- 26/04/2022 AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals: given by the PUE and aimed at ICT personnel interested in acquiring fundamental knowledge in Microsoft Azure.
- 09/05/2022 AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator: taught by the PUE and aimed at ICT personnel with experience in operating systems, virtualisation, cloud infrastructure, storage structures and networks.
- 23/05/2022 LibreOffice Calc Advanced: taught by Rafael Rodríguez Gayoso and aimed at any user, both PAS and PDI, who wishes to deepen in the handling of spreadsheets in aspects that are not usually used on a regular basis and can improve the quality of the work done with this type of tools.
- 23/05/2022 Professional digital publications: design, desktop publishing, layout and diagramming with Scribus: taught by Óscar Fernández Carballo and aimed at users who work in or have a vocation for professional or semi-professional desktop publishing.
- 23/05/2022 Statistical analysis with RCommander: given by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Muíños and aimed at teaching and research personnel who use private statistical tools in their work.
- 30/05/2022 Creation and treatment of images and photographs with GIMP, 2nd Edition: given by Óscar Fernández Carballo and aimed at PAS and PDI personnel interested in photo editing and retouching.
- 30/05/2022 Creation of infographics and vectorial designs, 2nd Edition.
- 30/05/2022 Initiation to GNU Octave: given by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Muíños and aimed at teaching and research personnel who wish to learn or use proprietary numerical calculation tools in their work.
- 30/05/2022 Tricks and good practices in elaborating digital documents: given by Óscar Fernández Carballo and aimed at PAS and PDI staff who use word processors in their work and want to increase their productivity.
As an added value to training, this year, many of the courses have live videoconferences with the trainer to resolve doubts and delve into specific topics of the course or to carry out joint activities related to the training.
All the information on these courses is available to the PAS and PDI training units of the three universities, which are already disseminating the calls for applications and managing the personnel interested in the different courses and being published and available in the Training section of the CIXUG website.
