The CIXUG continues to expand the catalogue of its web services and has just incorporated in its “Services” tab the link to its new open source translator, based on the public version of Apertium, which is a GNU licence.
The installed translator has up to 5 different languages that can be configured to cover the needs of most of the platform users in our community. Additionally, the product allows translations of documents in the following formats: .txt, .rtf, .odp, .ods, .odt (LibreOffice/OpenOffice), .xlsx, .pptx, .docx (MS Office 2003 and recent versions). It also allows translating a web page by adding a link to it.
Finally, it should be noted that this translator has several possibilities for obtaining the desired translation. It allows you to mark unknown words or make an instant or multi-step translation.
With this, the CIXUG seeks to increase the value of its website, as well as to promote Open Source Software and provide new utilities to all the people who are part of the community of Galician universities, helping to improve their productivity.
